Position: Substation Field Engineer
The Substation Field Engineer is responsible for supervising and monitoring project activities related to substation inspection, testing, installation, and commissioning. The role ensures that all field activities are performed correctly, safely, and in accordance with approved technical standards, procedures, and project requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor field activities related to substation inspection, testing, installation, and commissioning.
- Ensure that all work is performed correctly and according to approved technical standards, drawings, procedures, and specifications.
- Lead and coordinate technical teams during inspection, testing, and installation activities.
- Provide technical instructions and guidance to field teams to ensure proper execution of the work.
- Review inspection records, testing reports, test results, checklists, and other technical documentation.
- Verify that testing and inspection results meet the required acceptance criteria and technical standards.
- Identify technical issues, defects, or deviations during site activities and ensure they are properly recorded and addressed.
- Monitor the quality of installation works and ensure equipment and systems are installed according to approved requirements.
- Follow up on corrective actions for identified defects, non-conformities, and technical issues.
- Provide technical recommendations for corrective and preventive actions when required.
- Ensure that all completed works are properly inspected, tested, documented.
- Review technical documentation and ensure that reports accurately reflect the work completed and the results achieved.
- Support the preparation of project progress reports and technical updates related to substation activities.
- Ensure that testing and inspection activities are carried out using appropriate and properly calibrated testing equipment.
- Monitor compliance with electrical safety requirements and approved work procedures during all field activities.
- Support troubleshooting and investigation of technical issues identified during testing, inspection, or installation.
- Ensure all project activities are completed according to the required quality, technical, and project standards.
- Provide technical support during final inspection, testing, commissioning, and handover activities.
Requirements
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related electrical engineering field.
- Language: Kurdish and English
Experience
- Minimum 5–8 years of relevant experience in substation projects, electrical testing, inspection, installation, or commissioning.
- Practical experience with medium- and high-voltage electrical equipment and substation systems.
- Experience supervising technical teams and coordinating field activities.
- Experience reviewing inspection reports, testing results, and technical documentation.
- Experience in troubleshooting electrical and technical issues during field activities.
Certifications
- Electrical safety training/certification.
- Relevant electrical testing and commissioning certification is preferred.
- Training/certification related to substation equipment, protection systems, or electrical testing is an advantage.
Technical Skills
- Good knowledge of substation equipment, electrical systems, testing procedures, and installation requirements.
- Ability to read and understand electrical drawings, single-line diagrams, and technical specifications.
- Ability to review test results and identify technical issues or non-compliance.
- Good knowledge of electrical safety procedures and safe working practices.
- Strong communication, coordination, and team leadership skills.
