Runaki: Half of Runaki households billed less than 29,000 IQD in July bill cycle

Erbil, Kurdistan Region (GOV.KRD) — The Ministry of Electricity is pleased to publish bill insights under the Runaki programme for the July cycle.

Most households have a billing cycle of around 33 days.

In this cycle, issues related to zero bills for affected customers have been resolved as part of KRG’s commitment to a regular billing process for all electricity subscribers.

The KRG has announced a one-time exceptional discount on old pre-Runaki debt of up to 50% as a support for subscribers to settle their old pre-Runaki debt once and for all. This discount ends on 10 September 2026.

To date, around 90% of the Kurdistan Region enjoy 24-hour electricity through Runaki.

Based on data from Runaki, around 80% of households, and in particular low-income households, continue to pay less for electricity than they did previously.

Prime Minister Masrour Barzani announced the Runaki programme in October 2024. The KRG Council of Ministers unanimously adopted the programme and new progressive tariffs in May 2025.

The KRG is planning to deliver 24-hour electricity to every home and business in Kurdistan by the end of 2026.
